All in a day's work

In a day of work, sometimes it can frustrating. funny and interesting. Sometimes incidents come and go during the day that can lighten up your spirit for the day. Today was one of those days.

Incident 1: Mouse

Colleague A: Wah your mouse very sensitive... (straining to control the movement of my small and sentive mouse)
Colleague B: (overheard) To escape from the cat ma ... mouse.

Colleague A goes -_-""" and me laughing non-stop.

Incident 2: Goose

Me and Jordan decided to try on the goose since the previous experience on the duck is good. Our purpose to see if the goose is as tasty as the duck and also to try and see how does goose tasted like for we have not eat before. When the goose is served:

Jordan : (-_-) How do you know it is goose and not duck? Not much different from the duck we ate last time.
Me: Goose got longer thigh compared to duck...
Jordan : But the colouring is the same (which is true.). What if they gave us duck and say it is goose?

I almost gapped at him. It does not come across my mind. But, the goose did taste nice.

Incident 3: Filthy rich guy

Colleague C goes O_O when she saw this application form. You will too when you got to know that:
Annual income : 4.3 million Singapore dollar
Property : 5.7 million 2 storey detached bungalow. He is applying for a mortgage of 4.5 million.

I am thinking... I work my whole life, my annual income don't even come close to 1 million. This guy only need to work 1 year. Any vacancy?

Incident 4: Interview

Me and colleagues were taking a break from work and started chatting. It came about to the time when we were being interviewed for current job.

Me: I remembered they asked me "Where do you see yourself to be in 5 years time? "
Colleague D: What did you answer?
Me: I said.. I want to be into the management level.
Colleague E: Wah... then my answer was very childish (start giggling)

Me and Colleague D got curious and pester Colleague E to tell us.
Colleague E: I said .. "I will tell you in 5 years time if I get hired."

Hahahahaahaa........boy it really make my day.

An exhausting day

Last week I complained that I am bored and that I don't have a heart to study. The weekend that have just gone by was busy. My brother's convocation come and go. Then Sunday, me and the gang went for Ikea. The purpose is that Tortoise wanted to look look and see see some furnitures for her new house. Me, Queen and Cat were merely for the sake of going and meeting up after such a long time.

9.45 am
Me: Tortoise where are you?
Tortoise: On the way, on the way. Queen reached adi ah?
Me: Queen still waiting for bus to LRT station. Can wait till you come and we go pick her up.

10.00am
Knock, knock....

Me: Aik, why you come in?
Tortoise: I want to go toilet. (one glance me over) Today cannot wear black... go change.
Me (puzzled) why wor...? Exact day so cannot wear black ah ?
Tortoise: Yes.. this year banyak pantang.. cannot wear black and must be home before the sky is dark.

Sounded scary...so I went to change to something sexy... hahahaa.

10.15 am.
We finally picked up Queen. On our way to Kepong to pick up the Cat.

Queen: I want to reach home by 7.00pm.
Tortoise: yes.. yes.. must reached home before sky is dark.

10.45 am.
We reached Cat's place. While waiting for her to come down, Tortoise saw an uncle with busy beard. He is walking to a lorry unloading furnitures.

Tortoise: This uncle looks familiar. Like my Papa's friend.... he drives lorry one.
Me: You don't go scared people.
Tortoise: He did look familiar la .. we called the uncle ... Uncle Kambing cause the beard like kambing.
(me and Queen giggle giggle...)
Queen: But uncle now change job to be mover adi wor.....
(ahahahahaa.....)

11.30 am.
We reached Ikea but Cat say we parked in the Curve.
Queen : I am hungry.... must eat first.
Tortoise: Me too.....
Cat: Ok lor.. then we eat first. What to eat?
Me: Who said the Curry puffs in Ikea is very nice? We eat that one la.

So all of us were eating curry puffs with coffees and teas.

Queen: Eh, got cappucino ah ?
Me: Yeah, it is written on the machine ma....
Queen: Cheh... if I know I also press for cappucino rather than milk coffee. This milk coffee no sugar one.

Me goes -_-""". Cat and Tortoise was laughing all the way. Queen finished her first cup of coffee and went for second cup. Came back with satisfy smile.

Me: So what did you press for this time?
Queen: Latte.... hehehe. Eh, you guys can actually refill one. If don't want coffee then refill for soft drinks... they don't know want.
Me, Cat and Tortoise...-_-""" : Like that also can ah?

12.00pm:
Finally, we began our rounds in Ikea. I only look look and see see. Design did not differ much from the last time I came. But then for Cat and Tortoise, they found something to buy. Tortoise bought glass vase and water dispenser for the plants. Cat went through an ordeal to get a full body mirror.

Cat: This one is nice but then it has to be hanged on the wall.
Tortoise: Why, you don't want to hang it up?
Cat: No ma, I always rearrange my things, so if I hang up the cannot change. But it is affordable RM 69. This one is nicer, the wooden frame can allow me to lean against the wall if I don't want to hang. But a bit expensive, RM 189.
Me: (strutting over).. hey... me and Queen found something cheap and nice (pang leng cheang).
Queen: Tadaaa...... RM 29 only for the mirror and some more got frame one. You can hang and can prop it against the wall (suddenly Queen has become the salesperson).
Cat : Can you prop it up and see... ? Hmmm.... cannot wor. Have to hang.... (the mirror only reached he breast). You hold up and see.

(Me and queen now holding up the mirror...... Cat pose pose a bit).
Cat: (nodded with approval)... hmmm... ok this is ok. But I don't want this frame. I like the wood patterns to be like this.... one....

Me and Queen eyed the stack of mirrors.... goodness! She don't mean to go through the whole stack gua... a lot man!

Queen: This one... hmm but the pattern I don't like.
Me: Aiyoo aunty... this is cheap frame only la... you think the carpenter got match the pattern ah.. (eyes rolled heaven ward)
Tortoise: kena marah adi lo.... chin chai la....
Queen giggling.... and finally she settle for one.

3.00pm
We exited Ikea, only to find us back to The Curve. And there is Border's book sales!!!! Apa lagi, I went in and came back with another Nora Robert series.... got 20% discount. Hehehehee.......

3.30pm
We drove to Wan Utama. The main purpose is because Cat need to change her pants. The one she bought the zip is faulty.

Cat: I need to go to Jusco .. in new wings.
Tortoise: Where are we now...? ( standing in front of Giant ).
Me: I don't know.
Queen: Jusco walk over there. (we all glanced back to look at her.. wondering how come she knows) Follow the sign board (pointing at the sign board)

Me, Tortoise and Cat laughing....

Me: Wah, why so far one? (we are walking to another end). I think Jusco is in old wing la.
Cat: Huh? Old wing meh? I thought it is new.
Tortoise: Faster la.... my legs is breaking in 2.

We found the store at last and change the pants. Tortoise bought the birthday present for hubby and we headed back to new wings for lunch (late lunch).

We had lunch at 4.30 pm. But by 5.00pm we were out. Tortoise and Cat went grab for dinner. Me and Queen lepak in the MPH. We finally left Wan Utama at 6.00pm and reached home at 7.30pm.

Thoughts

I just reached home after my brother's convocation. Supposed to go meet Tapir and also Piggy for firework competition in Putrajaya, but, I couldn't make it. So, I decided not to go. Anyhow, I was blog hopping, until I found this funny but I find it rather true blog. It is title : 20 Things to remember during your working days. I pasted up a few which I find it true and funny:

1. If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos…then you probably haven’t completely understood the seriousness of the situation.
2. Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.
3. TEAMWORK…means never having to take all the blame yourself.
4. Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.
5. Go the extra mile. It makes your boss look like an incompetent slacker.
6. A snooze button is a poor substitute for no alarm clock at all.
7. INDECISION is the key to FLEXIBILITY.
8. Aim Low, Reach Your Goals, Avoid Disappointment.

How true! Hahahaha..... and today I witnessed something funny during the convocation. This graduate obviously did not pinned her motor board to her hair. The motor board falled off when she was bowing to the pro-cancellor. She regained it only to get it fall off again when she received her scrolled. I guessed with that, it spoilt the chance for her to show her best smile for the photo..huh?

I am thinking of going to Sweden. Next year. Cousin sis is getting married. Aunty and cousins are all going to Sweden. I am thinking to follow. Will be there for 2 weeks. While I am there, I will go to UK as well to visit my aunty there. Still considering.....air plane ticket is approximately RM 2.5K to 3K. Expenses? Sigh... have to think think. Another issue is I have promised friend to go to Koh Samui as well. My house is getting ready too next year.... sigh... still thinking... now I wish I have a husband to sponsor me a little.

Talking about husband.....the thought of being single mama came to my mind that day. I mentioned it to Tapir. Tapir reacted like she has been strucked by lightning. She said I am weird and that this is not something that many people will wish to have. Probably I am not normal. Well, this thought come to mind is when I am thinking that I am getting older by the day and I am still single. Chances of getting married is getting slimmer by the day, but I like kids. I would love to have one of my own. Living with another person does not comes in easy, and besides, with the current divorce rates, broken family ..... all the more reasons why I want to be a single mama. But all this have to go through a lot of thorough thinking. I have to be financially and mentally ready and stable. And this is no playing game. Tapir was saying her life is shitty enough and she don't want it to be passed on. But I see the bright side. Piggy was all agreeing and said that she even consider which sperm bank to look for. I am thinking... maybe if I met a guy I love but I know living together or being together is impossible then he can father my child. That way I can have a part of him with me all the time.... logical right? hmm.... can start scouting. :-P

A lot of thinking last week. I thought about my job too. Tempted when friends informed of vacancies. But then I am still thinking if I should try. Current job gives me a lot of upsets and lately I am depressed. I cannot explained why. When you heard your friends are preparing their resume and submitting for some job applications, it makes me think even more. Maybe my time has come for me to move on, but, the sense of insecurity is there. Well, I am the kind that think too much ahead. Worrying too much, but yet, staying put doesn't makes me happy. So, I end up depressed, confused and frustrated.

Anyhow, it is weekend. I hope all the thinking can be put at rest and start a new week afresh. Life goes on anyway. I guess this is my down time. Possibly after this I will be feeling better. Let's hope.

Time

Time,
You don't realize its presence,
Nor do you ever felt its essence,
Some said it can be your guidance,
Some said it will show you your consciences.

When you think you have it the most,
You have nothing to do utmost,
When you needed it the most,
It is not even enough for a short toast.

When will I have ample time,
To use it fully like a dime,
And not to waste it with guilt and whine,
Sigh, such a contradicting mind.

I am bored.... lazy to study and I don't know what to do. Help!

Splashing all the way in Sunway Lagoon

Today is the Technical Services Away Day. This year it was done in Sunway Lagoon. It is my first time there to be honest. But, I have heard a lot of stories about the challenges inisde. Some said it is exciting, some said it was scary.... well, I guess it is a good oppurtunity for me to go experience myself.

Part I: Wet Challenges.

After registration and also breakfast, we were briefed and then pursue our tasks in 2 groups; one to tackle to wet challenges and another to the dry challenges. I was in the wet. We are fully prepared in swim suit and sandals.

Task 1: Fun at Little Zimbabwe with Coloured Balloons. The pool is a kiddy pool about my thigh high. But, being a person who can drink more than I can swim, wading through the pool was not easy, and my steps are small and short. So, you are like watching a chicken wadding through the pool, as fast as the feet can carry. And we have to climb the slides which is slippery, grabbed the balloons and popped it. The, rally went on until we have 10 balloons. Sounded easy, but my legs were weak after 2 rounds, lucky only 2 rounds.

Task 2: Relay at Zambezi River. This task only need 6 persons. I took myself out. 3 to rally the alphabet through approximately 10 m water wading (again) and then threw it up to the partner standing on the bridge. The partner will then run as fast as possible and bring the alphabet back to the marshall. Our alphabet got stucked up the tree nearby! Arghhh..... we spend good old 10 minutes trying to bring that thing down. Broom, slippers whatever we can gather to pull the alphabet down, and lastly, one of the team member have to climb the tree to get it down..... sigh!

Task 3: Paddle through Mali Cove. Only 3 persons doing this. Easy but exhausting .... one person sat on the floater and was being pulled from one end to another and back of the pull.... I think it was about a 50 m pull. Seems easy, but the one who pulled were very exhausted.

Task 4: Sub-scramble in Lake Kariba. It is underwater crossword puzzle. Each of us have to get 2 stones with alphabets in the pool and came back up to form the crossword puzzle "Together we can move mountains" . Again, I have the duty to do the crossword when others dived in for the stones.

Already half exhausted with the first part, but then it didn't end here. There is Part II.

Part II: Dare

Yes, you have to do something challenging. team now are divided into 3 groups to tackle 3 tasks in 2 hours. Here are the tasks:

Task 1: Congo Challenge, Niagara Falls FLume Ride, African Phytons, Grand Canyon River Rapids.

Task 2: Pedestrian suspension bridge (walk backwards and upon reaching the marshall to perform a specific task), Galleon (Pirate Ship), Wagon Wheel, Buffalo Bill Coaster

task 3: Kalahari Kids (sing PS's company song while wainting for tub to be filled with water), Lost City of Gold, Shower Station at Surf Beach, Tomahawk.

My group was doing task 3. 5 of us in the team. When we reached Kalahari Kids, we assumed our place uderneath the tub and started singing. By the time we sang "we are Prudential" .... the whole tub of water "splash!" from top. We are dreached and still have to continue to sing until it is finished.

Next we went to the Lost City of Gold .. we have to ride the coaster, I left it for my other 4 members for I cannot take the excitement. (rules: at least 4 members on the ride). After that we went for the TOMAHAWK! Again, I chose to be property guardian..... hehe.. scared ma. But the thing is , our COO was on the TOMAHAWK before us!

Finally, we have to go all the way back to the Surf beach. We have to sing in the shower station where water is splashing us all over. I am totally drenched. We only have a wee bit of time to change, wipe dry and eat and then we prepared for the final part.

Part III: Anthem singing

Not yet prize giving, but getting there. Before that, we have to do the anthem performance. All the athem is based on the rhythm and rhyme of "Twinkle twinkle little star" or "Baa Baa Black Sheep". This is also the time when all the time will take out their "secret weapon". All teams have their probes and anthem ready.

Tapir was in "Sticky team"... she had a tattoo stick on her right cheek and a bandanna over her head. Looks like some lost pirates... :-P. There is this team "Flush Away" - they have the mouse ears, nose and tail. The ladies even have a ribbon between the ears ... looks more like mickey and minnie mouse. Our team is "Magneto Bees" - the creative member actually did the "tentacle" (temporarily forgotten what is it called) and the wings..... so we are buzzing in and out the anthem. We did not get the prize for the tasks..... but we won 1st prize for the anthem and mascot. Yay Yay!!!!!

We went home, tired. But, we still went for drinks in Time square. First thing I did went I reached home is to nap for an hour.... it was more fun than last year.

PruBowl 2007

I have to post up something.. it has been too long now.

We had our bowling day on 4/8/2007. This is the time to enjoy and have fun. We practised, we played and we have fun! Hahaha... well, this time around, our section alone have 3 teams participating, that is more than half of the people in the whole session! Cannot imagine that all of us are actually 'kaki bowling' !

Anyway, we were not there to win.. more to make sure we don't appeared last! What an ambition huh? But the sad thing is, power trip for 2 times! Tsk tsk... but then we still have fun. Nothing can stop us from playing....
